Ohre river memorial
Terezín was transformed into a Jewish ghetto and prison camp during World War II. One day in 1944, after the Nazis had realised that they were not going to win, the ashes of 22,000 people were dumped in the river. Today, this memorial stands by the river in a meadow to mark the spot.
